Workbooks/Cuadernos

These workbooks can stay home. We practice our handwriting using our spiral notebooks. We are also starting to use our spiral notebooks as a reader's response journal.
Estos cuadernos se pueden quedar en casa. Nosotros practicamos nuestras letras usando los cuadernos espiral. Tambien usamos los cuadernos espiral para diarios de lectores.

Workstations/Tareas de los Centros

Workstation assignments give the students a chance to pace themselves, work independently and practice various skills such as reading comprehension. We do workstations during my small group reading time which is usually 12:30-1:45 pm. Volunteers welcomed!

The students will be tested on reading these words in May. I send these words as part of our spelling homework and they are tested on Fridays.

The students practiced counting pennies and "buying" at our school store.

LDC Literacy Development Center

We will be having LDC until October 9th. The students practice their writing in English.

Miller Outdoor Theatre September 12, 2009

Thank you to Ms. Dondlinger for organizing a nice day at Miller Outdoor Theatre! We were able to "control" the weather but not the traffic or parking.
Gracias a la Sra. Dondlinger por organizar nuestro dia en Miller Outdoor Theatre. Pudimos "contralar" el tiempo pero no el trafico o el estacionamiento.

New Homework/Nueva Tarea

Starting this week ABC order will be part of our homework. This is the sheet that will help the students organize their words. Once they write the words in the squares, they will list the words in ABC order in their spiral.
Esta semana vamos a tener orden alfabetico como parte de nuestra tarea. Esta hoja les ayudara a los estudiantes organizar sus palabras. Cuando escriban las palabras en los cuadros, las copean en orden alfabetico en sus cuadernos.

I hope we are all feeling better. I had a relapse Friday afternoon and spent 2 days in bed. Other than a lingering cough, I feel better. I will place a bottle of Purell at each table from now on.
